An exhibition chosen by art historian Gordon Brown covering the two decades from 1940. Sponsored by the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council, it is the third in a quartet of exhibitions surveying the development of New Zealand painting from the turn of the century.
The Robert McDougall Art Gallery has organised the exhibition which sets out the experiments and transformations which took place in New Zealand art during this period. This is an important assessment of a pivotal period when the visual arts of this country were undergoing vital changes.
