McCahon 53 (brushpoint b.r.); [name of recipient] - This is the last of the Titirangi things apart from the one I keep. A watercolour - but treated on the back with formalin and P.V.A as a seal and on the front formalin only. This backing board is P.V.A and formalin on both sides too - so - when you see the little brown spots don't get too anxious. When you see the others eaten out by fungus spots don't get too anxious either - this should be one of the most sterile paintings in N.Z. If too sterile please say so and I will substitute another (less so). C. Greetings. (The subject is our Titirangi back garden.) (on reverse)
